Music Mondays: Flashlight (Jessie J)

Again it’s late for today’s Music Mondays but I couldn’t find the one to feature until I heard this on the radio and actually listened to the lyrics. It’s Flashlight by Jessie J but instead of featuring the official music video, I opted to go with the cover by Hailee Steinfeld (aka Emily Junk in Pitch Perfect 2). This one also has the lyrics so you can feel the message as well.

Last Saturday I lost my puppy, Tacos. He was the first of three dogs I got early this year.

The day he arrived in our home.

The day he arrived in our home.

If you’ve been following along with me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, you’d see pictures of him when I first got him.

Tacos was a very sweet and hyper puppy. Compared to his older sisters (not really related), he grew more in length than in height. And he was the only puppy I knew who “galloped” and when excited, moved liked a bull trying to throw off a person. He also liked to lick people and eat out of his older sisters’ bowls (to the dismay of the sisters).

Tacos also had a very short tail (almost none) so when he gets excited, his whole bottom sways in excitement. Lately, he took to greeting me whenever I open the car door upon coming home. He’d try to reach me and in the last few days, he was able to reach and lick my elbow.

Tacos, Tarra, & TitatHis death was sudden and quick. And I am still reeling from the shock of what had happened. Tacos made it possible for my family to take care of three more (the latest I had this May) puppies. He helped heal my heart and had been my “flashlight” all this time. But losing him left me, once more, heartbroken, lost, and helpless. He was too young; too innocent. He did nothing wrong and yet he’s now gone.

I will forever miss him.

There you have it! A year’s worth of wonderful music. Obviously I have my favorites since the frequency of some artists are higher than the other but I try to vary as much as possible. After all, I have 5 things to consider when choosing my Music Mondays. It’s just that these artists’ music calls to me more than the others.

If you like the same songs I do, we’ll hit it off right away. I believe music preference is an aspect of one’s personally. If it resonates within you, then you have the same vibrations as that music. And if we like the same music, then we’re more than likely to be friends because we have the same vibes and probably same wave length.

From Top to Bottom: Fab Five Songs that’s all about the Bum-Bum

We’re all about butts now?

Between Bubble Butt to Anaconda, there are many different shades of booty now. Somehow I thought, we’re done with boobs? Without going into much discussion and as an off tangent segue, the Billboard Hot 100 with female artists dominating the Top 5 (Yey Girl Power!) got me answering my own questions: Yeah, we’re done with it, now we’re into butts.

We have:

  1. Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass, which I featured almost a month ago;
  2. Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off;
  3. Bang Bang by Jessie J., Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj, which I also featured on Music Mondays;
  4. Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda; and
  5. Iggy Azalea’s Black Widow feat. Rita Ora.

Majority of the Top 5 talked about, referred to, showed some, and primarily featured the bottom half of the anatomy. And we haven’t even talked about J. Lo’s Booty, our very own predecessor of the big butt (not as big now in comparison). I’m sure there are still other butt songs out there. Maybe it’s the twerking that started it, I don’t know. I don’t know how to twerk so I’m just saying.

Are you are boobs or butt person?

Music Mondays: Bang Bang (Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj)

What do you get when you put together edgy, sweet, and spicy? You’d get one hell of a powerhouse song. I’ve been itching to feature this song by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj the first time I heard it on the radio. I always find myself breathless after the song for each artist has her own unique vocals. The last time I felt this excited was listening to Lady Marmalade by Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mya, and Pink, also a powerhouse song.

A note about the music video, I heard that they recorded the song separately and them spliced together. As for the music video, I think it’s the same and it’s only at the last portion that they got all three artists together. If I got this info wrong, please correct me so I can edit this post immediately. 🙂 Thank you!

As an added bonus, because I really love this song and it’d be an insult not to find a good dance routine for it, here’s one from my favorite show, So You Think You Can Dance (Season 11).
