Music Mondays: Twerk It Like Miley (Brandon Beal ft. Christopher)

No, I don’t know how to twerk like Miley. What I do know is that this song reminds me of last week’s Music Mondays featured song, at least on the chorus part. That’s actually the reason why I’m featuring Twerk It Like Miley for this week’s Music Mondays.

Other than that, kudos to Miley Cyrus for always pushing boundaries and keeping everyone at the edge of their seat. She knows how to generate a buzz—good and bad alike.

I never really did hate her. Oh I love her in her Hannah Montana years and her partying in the USA moments. I still believe she has a great voice although she does not use it so much these days (like Lady Gaga before she sang in the Oscars), which is  a little sad but hey, whatever makes you happy, right?

But today’s video won’t be the official music video since I found two (2) dance routines I’d like to share. It’s hard not to pick because they are two different styles—one hard hitting and the other’s sexy in that K-Pop way.

Did you notice the similarity in the this week’s and last week’s Music Mondays? 🙂

Music Mondays: Bailando (Enrique Iglesias feat. Sean Paul, Descemer Bueno, & Gente De Zona)

From last week’s funk groove, let me take you to a Latin tune this time, which has gotten me shaking my whatevers for days. It can be danced Flamenco style, Cumbia style, or street. A few videos I saw used the Spanish version for Zumba. It has that kind of flexibility. Why shouldn’t it? Bailando is dance in Spanish. So yeah, it should live up to its name.

There’s also the Spanish version, which I like better because it shows more choreography than the English version.

Dance is universal. It is not restricted by anything, not even language.

Music Mondays: Uptown Funk (Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars)

A song that anyone will move their bodies, even your grandparents! And if you have the swag and the right kind of groove, then the dance will be worth watching.

There are a lot of videos on YouTube that use this song but the official music video is fun enough not to put in here. In case you haven’t watched it, then you’d be 325,995,+++th who’ll be watching it.

Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars

If you’re like me, you would have probably asked “Who/where is Mark Ronson?” He’s the guy riding the slow moving car. If you know who he is, then you might have commented that the song is more Bruno Mars than Mark Ronson. Well, a Google search showed me that Mark Ronson is a musician, DJ, singer, and record producer and that the Uptown Funk is one that “features Bruno Mars vocals”1. So maybe it’s the musician/DJ/record producer, not the singer, in Mark Ronson that was in play in this song. Maybe.

I think this song will become a classic, don’t you think?

As an added bonus, because I can’t get enough of it, here’s a neat choreography of Uptown Funk by none other than, Mega Jam:

Which groove did you like better? 😉

Music Mondays: Shake It Off (Taylor Swift)

I’ve been meaning to feature this very upbeat and fun to dance/walk to song by Taylor Swift for Music Mondays, but there wasn’t any good videos that I can partner this with. Finally, Jasmine Meakin a.k.a. Mega Jam, uploaded one of her fantastic choreos. The routine seems simple enough to follow but I think it will require stamina to keep up with the speed.

So for the Taylor Swift fans and the dance enthusiasts out there, here’s this week’s Music Monday: Shake It Off by Taylor Swift.

I just might get up and try to follow the steps in this routine. 🙂 Who’s joining?

Music Mondays: Running from the Devil (District 78)

If you haven’t seen it yet, you should. Especially before the Halloween hype is over. Remember The Ring? Imagine getting sucked into the TV instead and be surrounded by zombies.

I’m not much into zombies (sorry Walking Dead fans!) but dancing zombies like those in Plants vs. Zombies are always an exception much like today’s featured video. Because I’m a fan of Jasmine Meakin a.k.a. Mega Jam, today’s Music Monday, Running from the Devil, takes second chair to her choreography although it’s no less good considering that it inspired such a routine.

Hope you have a scare-filled Halloween!
