Music Mondays: Running from the Devil (District 78)

If you haven’t seen it yet, you should. Especially before the Halloween hype is over. Remember The Ring? Imagine getting sucked into the TV instead and be surrounded by zombies.

I’m not much into zombies (sorry Walking Dead fans!) but dancing zombies like those in Plants vs. Zombies are always an exception much like today’s featured video. Because I’m a fan of Jasmine Meakin a.k.a. Mega Jam, today’s Music Monday, Running from the Devil, takes second chair to her choreography although it’s no less good considering that it inspired such a routine.

Hope you have a scare-filled Halloween!

Music Mondays: Anaconda (Nicki Minaj)

As promised in yesterday’s post, today I’m featuring Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda. Apparently, I first heard this, a portion of the song from my boyfriend singing “My anaconda don’t! My anaconda don’t! My anaconda don’t want none I guess you got buns, hun!” It just sounded strange and he didn’t elaborate so I left it at that. Weeks later, I heard the verse and the whole song over the radio. Oh! So that’s what it is!

I like the melody. It’s catchy, good to dance to, walk/jog to, and the chorus part is fine. Other than that, I’d like to remain silent. Suffice it to say, I won’t be linking the video the here. Instead, I foraged the YouTube and found three choreography that I really liked that featured Anaconda. I hope you like them as well.

The first is by Jasmine Meakin (a.k.a. Mega Jam)

This next one is by Emily Sasson

The last is by Jeffrey Caluag and Dimitri Mendez. I especially like the speed of their movement here and first thought that it was on fast forward. Haha! The quality is not as good but if you want the better quality but longer, you can find it here.

Music Mondays: Love Runs Out (One Republic)

Today’s featured song is among my list of music that entices me to get up from where I’m sitting or lying down and just dance like no one’s watching. Yep! And it surprised me, to think that I haven’t featured it yet until yesterday when it played on my Spotify (Power Walk playlist) while I was on the treadmill and I just had to draft today’s Music Monday.

I’ve heard it on the radio, seen it in danced in So You Think You Can Dance Season 11 (which was a spectacular choreography by SYTYCD Season 2 runner-up Travis Wall), and then during my power walk yesterday. I believe these are enough to propel me to feature it today.

Like last week’s Music Monday, I’m posting 2 videos–the official music video and the dance from SYTYCD Season 11 as a bonus.

Love Runs Out by One Republic

I love the old lady in this video, don’t you?

Music Mondays: Bang Bang (Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj)

What do you get when you put together edgy, sweet, and spicy? You’d get one hell of a powerhouse song. I’ve been itching to feature this song by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj the first time I heard it on the radio. I always find myself breathless after the song for each artist has her own unique vocals. The last time I felt this excited was listening to Lady Marmalade by Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mya, and Pink, also a powerhouse song.

A note about the music video, I heard that they recorded the song separately and them spliced together. As for the music video, I think it’s the same and it’s only at the last portion that they got all three artists together. If I got this info wrong, please correct me so I can edit this post immediately. 🙂 Thank you!

As an added bonus, because I really love this song and it’d be an insult not to find a good dance routine for it, here’s one from my favorite show, So You Think You Can Dance (Season 11).

What about you? What’s your Music Monday?

Music Mondays: Treasure (Bruno Mars)

I found the above quote in a video I found on YouTube while I was searching for a good video to accompany this Monday’s featured song: Treasure, by Bruno Mars.

The verse is quite nice. So much so that I had to InstaQuote it. The video where I got the quote from is not what I’ll be sharing with you today, however, mainly because there’s a much better choreography, which is this:

JP Tarlit‘s choreography is captivating really and much to my taste than the official music video, which wasn’t what I expected. I hope you share my liking with the choreography above. It’s a feel good music with a feel good choreography and I just want to share the love!

There are many other dance videos to the tune of Treasure. I was surprised really, and had a hard time picking the best one to share. What I especially like with this video is that a couple of the dancers are Filipinos. Plus, the dancers in most of the other videos I found were Filipinos as well. Whether it’s a coincidence or not that Bruno Mars is also part Filipino, I have no idea.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Music Monday!
