Music Mondays: Hate To See Your Heart Break (Paramore feat. Joy Williams)

Let your friends know

Happy Mondays everyone! If you’ve been following along with me, you’re probably wondering why my Music Mondays have lately been about love. I only just noticed, really. Actually, even this week’s Music Mondays is about love. I guess it’s just the infiniteness of love that makes for a very long discussion (indulge me please) 😉

Hate To See You Heart Break by Paramore ft. Joy Williams

The melody of Paramore’s Hate To See Your Heart Break can be hypnotic. The voices of Haley Williams and Joy Williams (I do ‘t thing they’re sisters) combined make the song seem like it was sung by a siren.

The lyrics say a different story, though. Instead of the promise of love, it talks of the extent of pain that a heart tries to endure when it is broken.

The dullest knife just sawing back and forth
And ripping through the softest skin there ever was

Imagine this being sung to you by a very close friend or relative who tries to absorb, in a way, the pain that you are feeling. Or if you’ve been there before, imagine this as your message to a very close friend or relative who is undergoing the same pain you endured before.

But as the song goes, just remember:

For all the things that you’re alive to feel
Just let the pain remind you hearts can heal

Are you the singer or the receiver of the song? What’s your Music Mondays?
